Freifunk Wireless Community Weekend 2010
c-base and the German community of freifunk.net invite you to the "Freifunk Wireless Community Weekend" at the c-base space station in Berlin. The weekend starts Friday, May 14, and lasts until Sunday, May 16, 2010
As in previous years, we will provide open spaces for the community in the c-base to discuss and work on projects. Later at night we will have a number of special guests in the evening presenting the latest creative commons hits, and, of course, there will be the legendary freifunk BBQ.
Background: Since 2003 the Freifunk community has been organizing the "Wireless Community Weekend" during spring in Berlin. Attracting the brightest from the wireless network community, the Freifunk Community Weekend has established itself as a trendsetter in the wireless world. While focusing on the community participants also come from research institutes like the Fraunhofer Institute and T-System Labs as well as from commercial actors. The event brings together more than 300 participants coming from Europe and around the world (http://global.freifunk.net). Besides the strong community in Germany participants include free wireless projects from South Africa (Meraka Institute), China (Wireless Student Network), Spain (guifi.net), Switzerland (Schweiz Wireless), Austria (funkfeuer.net), Italy (ninux.org), Russia (St. Petersburg), Denmark (Djursland.net), the Netherlands, and Slovenia (kiberpipa.net, wlan ljubljana).

Community Radio
Rundfreifunk from Freifunk Leipzig will broadcast some live radio shows from c-base to their local FM radio station in town Radio Blau and of course to our streamingservers in order to make it worldwide accessible.

All projects at the WCW2010 are invited to join the radio show. Audio interviews are welcome, with information about their local networks, development, and socialising. Later, we will cut those interview into several parts, to improve access. like we did last year in the archive of German free radiostations:

Hacknight Wishlist
- Produce a DHCP-Splash module that does not do NAT (or does not require NAT) and *actually works* out of the box (luci-splash currently does not).
- Make the DHCP-Splash detectable by the iphone (like the splash of white-russian-openwrt)

- not really. white-russian-splash is still ok.
- The iPhone does a http request to an Apple.com page on every log into a free network. If the result is a 302 result code, it displays the resulting page as a splash screen allowing login. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captive_portal.
- where is the source? i can show this by touching the phone. it has a splash page detector, which does not work with freifunk kamikaze any more
- please explain this with a link to sourcecode
- Work on getting multicast (mDNS) working community-wide (as an option). This can either be a cookbook or a package. This will finally make the net social by allowing the users to see and talk to each other within peer2peer apps like Bonjour chat.
- WE HAVE THIS ALREADY. LOOK AT THE mDNS OLSR PLUGIN!
- During WCW2010 we are going to define the scenarios and to prepare the scripts for the measurements that we are going to do two weeks later at the Wireless Battle Mesh http://battlemesh.org
- Work on common nodes database schema so that our software can be interoperable.
- Discuss common TLD and DNS server interconnection for community networks?
